Birthday Feathers

Birthday Feathers

Birthday Feathers / Urodzinowe Pióra
We spent this Easter with my husband's parents, grandparents and sister. We had a great time with loads of laughter, especially since our little one learnt a few new tricks and showed them off to entertain everyone, and as always there was lots of yummy food. One of the things I came back home with (not because of Easter, just because I like crafting, as you can tell...) was a small pile of card making magazines and a few stamps...
Thanks to my husband and all the ladies present I actually managed to look through all the magazines, and I found inspiration for a birthday card for my sister. She will turn 35 this month, and I wanted to make something special for her in her favourite colour - blue.

To make this card I used:

1. A 13.5 cm (folded size) white card and matching envelope from the Docrafts Anita's Square Card and Envelope set.

2. Big and small feather stamps and an "It's your birthday" stamp.

3. Some black and blue inks.

4. A piece of white card.

5. Some transparent blue paper.

6. Some fine-tipped porcelain pens.

7. A paper cutter.

8. Some paper glue.

9. A few double-sided sticky pads with dimensions 5 mm x 5 mm and 2 mm thickness.

10. Some gloss varnish for extra shine.

11. A pair of scissors.

Using black ink stamp two small and two large feathers onto white card. Colour the feathers in blue and green shades using the pens. Let the feathers dry and then spray them a few times with the gloss varnish for an extra shiny finish. Let them dry again, and then cut them out. Using the paper cutter, trim the card to give it a rectangular shape with some fancy edges. Also cut a smaller rectangular piece of card to go on top. Use the paper cutter to cut a strip of transparent blue paper, and then stamp the sentiment "It's your birthday" onto this strip using blue ink. Next assemble everything together: first glue the blue paper with the sentiment onto the smaller rectangle of card, and then glue the ends of the transparent blue paper at the back. Glue the smaller rectangular piece of card onto the big one. Glue the small feathers onto the card and add the big feathers using sticky pads. At the end you should have a card looking similar to what you can see in the pictures. Have fun and enjoy!

Happy crafting!
